Description: My name is Michelle and I have been actively involved in charity work for over 30 years. My passion is to help. If I see or hear of a need I want to help and often I will not rest until I have succeeded. I started off small , taking items to orphanages. Gifts to old ages homes. Christmas gifts to children in need. The one thing about charity is that once you start you just don't or can't stop. Not only do we do events or drives through The Ladybird Foundation, we also feed down to other organizations - KZN Valley Dogs , Shap Shap and Jes Foord Foundation being some of them. Our association with the local schools has also continued. I am very blessed to have a supportive family and amazing friend group who are always willing to either contribute or sort and pack. My family have all been a part of charity - the support from them during Covid and the floods was unbelievable Everyone who knows me will tell you , I only ever ask for items for our charity. I am often instructed to ," Buy something for yourself " at a special occasion. I am thankful every day that I am able to be in the position, with all the support , to be able to ease the burden of those in need.

Description: You could say I was born into charity. My early memories are going to orphanages with my mom and brother to drop off toys and clothes. In my grade R year, we initiated the gifts for the underprivileged project. Throughout my school years I was always aware of those who needed lunches or assistance with school trips etc. High school led me to be part of Interact and People to People and I eventually became the Director of Feeding schemes and People with disabilities as part of the Durban Youth Council. Mom would work alongside me on the feeding side of the projects and we saw how dire some situations were. After school I continued to assist mom with all her projects - mom says I am the Production Manager . I have the knack for roping friends , family and visitors in to assisting with sorting , packing and dropping off. Although based in the USA for most of the year , when I am home I pre pack most of the Christmas gifts so that they are mostly ready to be sent out in November / December

Description: My name is Amy, I’m a 39 year old stay-at-home mom of two. I am married to Frank and we have a daughter, Georgia and a son, Samuel. After Covid, I made the decision to close my photography business and dedicate my life and time to my children and my family. I threw myself into the role of being a mom, but soon realised that something was missing. I have always been drawn to helping and serving others, and have found myself privileged enough to have extra time to help those in need. Being involved in the various drives and collections over the past year has been so rewarding to me personally. Seeing the smiles on children’s faces after we have handed out school supplies, Easter eggs or Christmas presents is just a feeling that is inexplicable. Charity work does not only mean that you have to give financially, but it can be offering your skills and mostly your time to changing lives. So, I found a place in The Ladybird Foundation to use my talent, my interest in social media and my passion for helping and serving others in our local community. “No beauty shines brighter than that of a big heart”
